The Legal Assistance Center (LAC) helps persons who choose to represent themselves in court. After assessing each patron's particular circumstances, LAC staff will explain the legal options and procedures. Court forms and instructions are available at the LAC, along with informational flyers about numerous legal issues. On site notary and copy services also assist patrons in preparing required court documents.
If the problem is not a legal one, or is best handled outside the legal system, a recommendation to a community social service agency will be given. If legal consultation is appropriate the LAC will direct patrons to suitable representation by free, low cost or private attorneys.
The LAC can assist you with a variety of non-criminal matters, including:
- Divorce
- Child Support
- Parenting Time
- Custody
- Paternity
- Landlord-Tenant
- Small Claims
- Court-Fee Waivers
- Judgment Collection
