General Tasks:

[] I read the content item from start to finish on the MLH website (not on the back end).

[] I consulted the Process Manual when completing this checklist.

[] I am editing the content item on the Michigan Legal Help website, and completing this checklist online.

Checking Substantive Information:

Title/Summary

[] I checked that the content’s title is an accurate statement that tells the user what the content is about. If I think the title should be changed, I checked with the Content Manager first. (Title changes impact SEO and links, and require additional work).

[] I checked that there is a summary, and it is a succinct and accurate reflection of the content item. If there is not one, I added one.

Substance

[] I checked that the content’s legal information accurately reflects current laws associated with its subject matter. I consulted the drafter or content manager if unsure about what laws to review.

[] I checked that if procedural information is included, the content’s steps follow the requirements set forth in the applicable court or administrative rules.

[] I checked that all monetary amounts referenced in the content are correct. (i.e., wages, public benefits, income deductions, etc.)

[] I checked that all program rules referenced in the content are correct. (i.e., who is/is not eligible for program benefits, length of eligibility, grounds for termination, etc.)

[] I checked that all deadlines referenced in the content are correct. (i.e., filing court papers, filing a response, appealing a decision, initiating a cause of action, statute of limitations, waiting periods, etc.)

[] If content refers to a court form, I checked that the content cites to its correct title.

[] If the article contains an attachment, I also checked the accuracy of the attachment.

[] I checked that any information about an agency and its services referenced in the content is accurate.

[] I checked that if a word is part of the lexicon, its definition appears in a pop-out window when the word is clicked (only the first time the word appears in the article).

[] Where possible, I corrected legal information I discovered to be inaccurate compared to information found in primary legal sources. If I could not find appropriate information with which to replace it, I removed any inaccurate legal information I discovered.

[] I checked to see if any alerts are associated with this content, and verified the accuracy.

[] I checked that the proper Legal Issues and Main Legal Issue were selected.

[] I removed any language that might reasonably be considered legal advice vs. legal information.
