Legal Services of Northern Michigan provides a full range of legal services in most areas of civil law for people who meet Federal poverty guidelines or who are 60 years of age or older. These services include: basic discussion of client rights; counseling; preparation of letters, documents, deeds, and pleadings; negotiations; administrative hearings; trials; and, in some cases, appeals, and community legal education presentations.
Legal Services of Northern Michigan does not provide service for criminal cases, traffic tickets or "fee-generating" cases. Services may be limited based upon funding levels and restrictions.
They partner with the Counsel & Advocacy Law Line (CALL) to screen new clients. They may be able to help you with your case, but you need to be screened by CALL first. Even if legal services can't represent you, CALL may be able to give you free legal advice. Call 1-888-783-8190.
