Today is the official launch date for the new Van Buren County Legal Self-Help Center Network.

The Van Buren County Legal Self-Help Center Network includes all 11 public libraries in Van Buren County.

With the launch of the network there are now more than 50 locations providing legal self-help services across Michigan.

Today is the official launch date for the new Clinton County Legal Self-Help Center.

The Clinton County Legal Self-Help Center will be a part of the Mid-Michigan Legal Self-Help Center Network with the Ingham County Legal Self-Help Center, located in the State of Michigan Law Library, and the Eaton County Legal Self-Help Center.

The center is based in the Briggs District Library in St. Johns.

The State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) announced the 2024 Legal Self-Help Center Grant Program. SCAO will award and disburse $500,000 in grant funding to expand legal self-help center services across the state. Lee más

Michigan Legal Help, through a grant from the Justice for All Commission, has launched a new remote navigator pilot project. At select self-help center locations people will be able to access video conferencing with a navigator.

In 2020, Michigan lawmakers passed the Clean Slate laws. These laws made it easier for some people to clear criminal convictions from their records.

One new part of the Clean Slate laws is automatic expungement (“set aside”) of some convictions. Automatic expungement of adult convictions officially started on April 11, 2023.
