Legal Self-Help Center of Alcona County

The Legal Self-Help Center of Alcona County now has Remote Navigator Services!

A Remote Navigator is available to help visitors over Zoom Monday - Friday 9:00 AM -1:00 PM at the Self-Help Center. Remote navigators are trained to help visitors use the Michigan Legal Help website over video. Remote navigators can help visitors find instructions for completing their legal process, answer simple questions about forms that are available on the website, and find community resources that may help with your legal problem. They can provide legal information, but not legal advice.

The Legal Self-Help Center of Alcona County is located in the Alcona County Library at 312 W. Main Street in Harrisville. During regular library hours, people who need help dealing with civil legal matters can come to the library for support. The County Law Library is also housed at this location. The library has staff who are trained to help visitors use the Michigan Legal Help website. These staff members are called “navigators,” and they can help you access information about handling some kinds of legal matters without a lawyer.

In addition to the website, navigators can help visitors find instructions for completing their legal process, answer simple questions about forms that are available on the website, and find community resources that may help with your legal problem. Navigators can provide legal information, but not legal advice. Navigators welcome any and all questions and will let you know if your question is outside of what they can provide. If you need legal advice, please contact a lawyer. If you would like help finding a lawyer, please use the Guide to Legal Help.
